BigHugeLabs and ImageChef. How very fun. Copied something to my sidebar using ImageChef, played around in BugHugeLabs and the Toon thingy looked like it was going to be a time-eater so didn't poke around in there much at all. Looked fun though.
As far as library use, I would write about the same comment as I did on my Thing 5 blog. Could be some really fun ways to update and brighten pr postings and websites.
Flickr is very awesome. HUGE!!! Enjoyed it very much.
Gotta go ...

Thing 5
OK. I was able to play around with Flickr Spell and posted something on my blog using it. I REALLY loved the Flickr Color Pickr but was not able to find code anywhere on the site to copy and use on my blog. If anyone reads this post and knows how to do that, I hope that you will post a comment and share that.
Any who, yes, a lot of time can be spent playing around with these 'tools'.
Mashups. Hmmm. I definitely have a better understanding of what a mashup is, but not sure if I could define what one is.
I sure had fun playing with some of these 'mashups' though. I really got stuck on one that is called Fupa Games and ended up adding it to my blog. Of course now that I go back and look at the instructions for Thing 5, I realize I was supposed to add something from Flickr photos instead. And I will. Sometime.
I'm finding this all really interesting, but not sure how many of these cool tools we will use at the library ... it would be real fun using some of them on our website or for posters, advertising, flyers, etc. I'm sure once I get deeper into this, I will have a better understanding and will come to see how they will be useful.
Sharing my photos on line though? Still not too sure about that yet.
I do need to look more at the Flickr photo tools. But for today I have run out of time.
Adios

Thing 11
Well. It's been a loooooooooong while since I've been to my blog, but Hey, I'm Back!! It took me a bit to get comfortable again with 23 Things and remember what (little) I had done .... a whole year ago!
So, by the recommendation of my co-worker, I skipped ahead to this Thing to make it a bit easier to go back and forth between sites while working on 23 Things. As we all know, we need to have the numerous pages open to work effectively on the different Things, so having a Delicious account has really helped with that ... having all my important bookmarks in one place, easily accessible, from any computer I'm logged on to.
I've just been able to touch on the benefits of having a Delicious account, and tagging, and as I continue to use this site and tool I will get my bookmarks/tags even more organized and use this tool to it's fullest. It is pretty cool though and I like it alot. It has a lot of potential for personal and professional use.
Oh, and the tutorial video? I think I learned more from the 'getting started' on the Delicious site itself.
Adios!

Thing Four

Oh my ... I had a great time with this Thing. I spent mmmmmmmm just a little bit of time looking at all of the pictures of Boxers, which happens to be my favorite dog breed. My husband and I do already have a fabulous Boxer, Brandi is her name, but I'm definitely thinking we should have another now. How could anyone resist a puppy like this??? I borrowed this darling photo from http://www.flickr.com/photos/emelia1502/
Flicker was a lot of fun. I did a few other searches but some were just too broad that I just got too many other non-related pictures also. One search I did was for pictures of Vaqueros and/or Buckaroos. Jeepers, everything/everyone under the sun uses this label. Not quite what I was looking for and just don't have the time to view thousands of pictures.
I'm just not sure about sharing my photos on the Web. I do have an account with Walmart Photos which I have created albums and ordered prints from. I did 'share' some of those albums with family. But that will likely be the extent of my photo sharing. It very useful to know how it all works and am glad I've been able to experience it.
Will our library use/have a Flicker account? Yes, I'm quite certain we will. Ways that we could use it would be sharing photos of past and/or upcoming events, library news (construction, remodeling), new displays, new staff (board members, administration). I'm sure someone will take this on.
Well, on to the next thing ...

Thing Three
OK, got 'er done.
RSS .. it took me a bit to thoroughly understand what it is all about. For some reason I was thinking this RSS was going to be part of our blog. After I created my feeds, I now understand it's a whole separate tool.
I can see how it can be a very useful and effective tool for many. Myself .. I don't foresee it to be a tool I'm going to use much. But who knows, now that I know what it's all about, that could change.
After reading the required info, I assumed it was going to be quite time consuming to get my aggregator account set up and feeds added. I was way wrong on that as it took just a very short time. I had a lot of fun looking at my favorite sites to see if I could add them to my feeds. Some did, and some did not. I did add the Bloglines button to my Favorites which makes it that much simpler to add one. I looked at some of the search tools, but didn't use them to add any. I'm pretty satisified with the number of feeds I currently have on my account.
It was fun learning about and using the RSS tool. I had not yet heard anything of RSS ... now I know!
Ciao for now ..

Thing Two
Well, as I mentioned in my last post, the blogging is going to be my most difficult 'thing' to do.
Lots of great articles that were to be read .. opinions, thoughts and comments on Library 2.0 and The 23 Things. I liked Julie Martin's post to John Blyberg's article best.
Where am I going to find the time to do the 23 Things? I'm not exactly sure. I just know I'll do my best. To say I'm going to spend X amount of time every day is not realistic for me. It will be at the top of my daily 'to do' list, but as things come up and I will prioritze accordingly. : )
I feel very fortunate as to what web tools I've been exposed to so far. I always have lots to do with the Internet (here and at home - research, shopping), Intranets, Wikis, You Tube, and a little bit of photo sharing. Creating and having a blog was completely new to me, which was great fun creating. I also feel lucky to be employed at a library that feels it's important to provide access to technology to our patrons.
I do look forward to partcipating in this program and broadening my knowledge of other web tools.
That's all for now ..

Thing One
Yippee!! I finally completed Thing One. : 0
I was able to get my blog created without too much difficulty, but became quite frustrated working with my Avatar. There was most definitely something wrong with my Internet connection (or something!) yesterday, as it took me most of the day to not get it accomplished. I guess if I wouldn't have been so particular as to what I wanted to look like, I could've been satisfied with choices from the first screens. Every time I clicked on the next screen of images, the page would lock up. This morning? No problems whatsoever. I was able to click through all of the screens of choices and create my little person in no time at all. YIPPEE!! Setting aside that bit of trouble, I thoroughly enjoyed setting up my blog and Avatar.
I'm looking forward to working through the 23 Things. I am definitely a 'hands-on' type so this will be an excellent opportunity for me to find out about all of the newest and coolest tools and trends that friends and patrons talk about. My most difficult challenge will probably be the blogging. Just not crazy about writing.
Signing off for now,
